Just Been in a Collision? Here's What You're Probably Thinking.

You’re stressed. Maybe still a bit shaken. And now you’re staring at a car that doesn’t look – or drive – the way it should.

You’ve probably got a few things running through your head right now: Is it safe to drive? What does ICBC actually cover? How long will I be without my car? And who can I actually trust with this?

Those are exactly the right questions. And they’re exactly what we help Langley drivers work through every day.

Here’s what you need to know: as an ICBC-accredited C.A.R. Valet shop, Jan’s handles the repair and the claim process – which means less running around for you, and a faster path back to normal.

What "ICBC Accredited" Actually Means - And Why It Matters

Not every auto body shop in Langley is ICBC accredited. Accreditation means we’ve been formally reviewed and approved by ICBC for our facility standards, technician training, equipment, and repair quality. It’s not automatic – shops have to earn it and maintain it.

What that means for you: when you bring your vehicle to Jan’s, you’re dealing with a shop that’s been vetted for quality. Your repair will be done properly, and your ICBC claim will be handled smoothly because we already have an established working relationship with them.

We’re Also ICBC C.A.R. Valet Certified – And That’s a Big Deal

C.A.R. Valet (Collision Accredited Repair) is a higher tier of ICBC certification, and it comes with benefits that most people don’t know to ask about.

As a C.A.R. Valet shop, Jan’s can:

Assess and write your estimate on-site

In many cases, you don’t need to visit an ICBC claims centre at all. We can complete the estimate right here at our shop, which saves you a trip and gets your repair started faster.

Handle your transportation

When you drop your car off, we can give you a ride home or to work. When your vehicle is ready, we’ll come get you. You shouldn’t have to figure out logistics on top of everything else.

Be your one point of contact

Once you’ve filed your claim, call us. We work directly with ICBC so you don’t have to be the go-between. One conversation with our team gets the whole process moving.

How ICBC Collision Repair Works at Jan’s

A lot of people have never had to deal with a collision claim before. Here’s exactly what to expect.

Ready To Get Back On The Road?

Step 1: Call or book online Get in touch as soon as you’re ready. We’ll get you scheduled quickly – and if your vehicle isn’t driveable, let us know and we’ll talk through your options right away.

Step 2: We assess the damage – thoroughly Our technicians don’t just quote what’s visible on the surface. We inspect structural components, safety systems, and underlying damage that a quick walkthrough would miss. You’ll get an honest, complete picture of what your vehicle needs.

Step 3: We coordinate your ICBC claim As a C.A.R. Valet shop, we can often complete your estimate on-site and work directly with ICBC from there. In most cases, you won’t need to visit a claims centre – just leave it with us.

Step 4: We sort out your transportation We have a fleet of courtesy cars on-site. If you need something specific for work or family, we can coordinate with ICBC and rental companies to find the right fit. You won’t be left without wheels.

Step 5: Repairs begin Your vehicle is repaired to manufacturer specifications using the correct parts and techniques for your specific make and model. We hold OEM certifications for Ford, Toyota, FCA, and we’re also Tesla approved – so if you drive one of those, your repair is done to the standard the manufacturer actually requires.

Step 6: Final inspection and delivery Before your vehicle leaves our shop, it goes through a quality inspection. When you pick it up, it should look, drive, and feel exactly the way it did before the accident.

My SUV went in for a much-needed detail and I was very well taken care of from start to finish. The staff were friendly, professional, and my vehicle was ready right on time. When I picked it up, my SUV looked brand new again! I’m so impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail. I will definitely be using them again for my next detailing service. Highly recommend!

Kind, thorough, fast, and stress-free service! I had my windshield replaced and I didn't have to worry about anything- my vehicle now looks better than it did when I bought it! They also offered shuttle service when the work was being done. The extra mile they go to is rare and I really appreciated it. Thank you so much!!!

I am really glad that I was recommended this shop to do repairs for my claim. Everything was done in a professional, timely manner and the team went above and beyond with their service- my car came back even nicer than before the incident!

Do You Have to Use the Shop ICBC Recommends?

No. You don’t.

In British Columbia, you have the legal right to choose your own collision repair facility. ICBC cannot require you to take your vehicle to a specific shop – and choosing your own shop doesn’t affect your claim.

What it does affect is the quality of your repair. Not all shops are held to the same standard. ICBC-accredited shops like Jan’s have met a formal set of criteria for training, equipment, and repair quality. A non-accredited shop hasn’t.

So while the choice is yours, it’s worth making it a good one.

"ICBC was making it extremely difficult to even get an adjuster to look at the damages. Jan's took my claim number and made it possible to get my car into the shop less than 48 hours after my accident. I had my car back 2 weeks later - unlike the 6–8 weeks ICBC said it would take just to have an adjuster look at it. Their communication was top class and when I got my car back it was just as new as the day I bought it."

Need a Vehicle While Yours Is Being Repaired?

Being without your car is one of the most stressful parts of the process. We make it as easy as possible.

Courtesy cars on-site – Jan’s keeps a fleet of courtesy vehicles at the shop, including an extensive range of EV vehicles, which are available to customers while their repairs are underway.

Rental coordination – If you have specific needs (a truck for work, more space for the family), we can work with ICBC and local rental companies to find the right vehicle.

Rides to and from the shop – As a C.A.R. Valet shop, we can drop you off at home or at work when you bring your car in, and arrange pickup when it’s ready. You don’t need to sort out a ride on top of everything else.

Most ICBC policies include replacement vehicle coverage – we’ll confirm what you’re entitled to when you call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to go to an ICBC claims centre before bringing my car to Jan's?

In most cases, no. As an ICBC C.A.R. Valet certified shop, Jan’s can complete your damage estimate on-site and work directly with ICBC from there. This often eliminates the need for a separate trip to a claims centre. Give us a call after you’ve filed your claim and we’ll walk you through the next steps.

No. In BC, you have the legal right to choose your own collision repair shop. ICBC cannot require you to use a specific facility, and choosing your own shop doesn’t affect your claim. We’d just recommend choosing an accredited one.

It depends on the extent of the damage. Minor repairs can be completed in a few days. More significant structural work typically takes two to four weeks or more. We’ll give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout the process – you won’t be left guessing.

Most ICBC policies include some level of replacement vehicle coverage when your car is in for collision repairs. Jan’s has courtesy cars on-site, and we can also coordinate with rental companies for specific vehicle needs. When you call us, we’ll help you figure out what you’re entitled to.

ICBC accreditation means a shop has been formally reviewed and approved by ICBC for its facility standards, technician training, and repair quality. Not every body shop holds this designation – you have to earn it. It’s a meaningful signal that your repair will be done properly and your claim handled smoothly.

Yes – when repairs are done correctly, to manufacturer specifications, by properly trained technicians. That’s what our OEM certifications ensure. We’re certified by Ford, Toyota, and FCA to repair those vehicles to the exact standards their manufacturers require. A shop without those certifications may not be repairing to that standard.

Yes. We’ve worked with all major insurers operating in BC. If you have additional coverage through a private insurer, we can work with them too. Give us a call and we’ll figure out the right process for your situation.

Not necessarily – even if the damage looks minor on the surface, there may be structural or safety system issues that aren’t visible. If you’re unsure, call us before driving the vehicle further. We can advise you based on what you describe, and help arrange transport to the shop if needed.
